Year 7 Camp

Year 7 ADANAC Camp

During Term 1, students travel by coach to ADANAC camp located in the Yarra Junction for 3 days of activities.

At the year 7 camp, we aim for students to:

  • Build their social skills by providing opportunities to develop a wide range of skills that strengthen established relationships and develop new ones. Activities planned involve team cooperation, helping around meal times or team building exercises on the low ropes and personal challenges on the giant flying fox and water activities.
  • Increase their independence. School camps may be our students first time away from home. The year 7 camp provides an opportunity for students to take care of themselves by appreciating the importance of interaction and connections to the physical world. Most children rise to this challenge, they enjoy this new- found independence and recognise the need to look after themselves, each other and their environment.
  • Develop leadership qualities. Our year 7 students will often be expected to take on leadership roles and work together as a team to encourage positive decision making.
  • Encourage physical activities and active lifestyles. During camp, children will be exposed to a variety of experiences. These experiences are active and facilitate learning in a variety of forms, providing a greater awareness of skills and capabilities.
  • Forming positive rapports with teachers and staff. As our year 7 students are finding their individual way at Gladstone Park Secondary College, the year 7 camp will provide students to establish and maintain positive relationships with their teachers. These positive foundations will hold our students in good stead as they gear towards life at our school.
