Gladstone Park is a single campus, co-educational Year 7 to 12 College of almost 1600 students that services a large residential community in the North Western suburbs of Melbourne. We have a culturally diverse enrolment.
The school operates using a Sub-School model with Junior School years 7 – 8; Middle School years 9 – 10 and Senior School years 11 – 12. Currently more than 30 primary schools provide students for entry at Year 7.
The school provides a core program in the Years 7-9. The Year 10 blocks are aligned with the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) blocks and VCE is the predominant course offered at Year 11-12, supplemented by a small and highly sought after Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) is also offered to post compulsory students. A considerable proportion of Year 10 students undertake a VCE subject or pursue additional pathway options within the conventional curriculum program.
In 2007 a Select Entry Acceleration Program (SEAL) was introduced at Year 7. In 2012, there was a SEAL class at every year level.
Gladstone Park offers a unique Language Immersion program or CLIL (Content Learning in Language), where students are taught Maths, History and Geography in Italian.
The school provides a significant extra-curricular and enrichment program including a large instrumental program and several school bands; debating and public speaking; drama and musical productions; and a large House competition program including, but not restricted to, swimming, athletics and debating.
Facilities include: a state of the art 300 seat Performing Arts Centre with a dance studio, community library, modern administration block, second gym and separate year 7 area.
In the last few years we have renovated all of our portable classrooms and undertaken significant work in the school grounds. We have completed the redevelopment of our Upper East wing which includes eight new large computer classrooms and the middle school office. We have also just completed a total upgrade of our science facilities which includes 7 very large fully equipped science rooms with computers. In addition, we have redeveloped the Lower East wing along the same lines with 7 large general purpose classrooms with a Junior School office, and completed rebuilding our Home Economics wing.
In 2012, early 2013 we completed the redevelopment of the Music and Administration blocks, both very modern and spacious.
The College has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Gladstone Park is a traditional school with traditional values, the key value being respect.
