The Arts enable students to develop their creative and expressive capacities though both traditional and emerging art forms, developing skills and techniques through an ever changing and contemporary approach. The Arts are vitally important to the whole learner in developing confident and creative thinking individuals. Our students benefit greatly from gaining the ability to demonstrate strong lateral thinking skills. The Arts create critical and creative thinkers, who have curious minds, can appreciate and interpret the world around them, and lead rich and productive lives.

The Arts subjects take full advantage of the College’s technology to enhance the learning of all students in all arts areas. Students learn and develop skills in:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Digital Photography
  • Adobe InDesign
  • SketchUp
  • AutoDesk

The faculty offers a wide variety of incursions, excursions and entrance to a variety of competitions to provide students with an immersive experience in the Visual Arts and Design, helping them to put their knowledge and skills into a wider context. These include:

All Arts subjects lead to the senior level studies where students are required to produce folios. They link to diverse tertiary courses and career opportunities which can involve jobs in the Arts areas, which include traditional pathways such as Designers, Architects and Visual Artists, but also involve careers in education, science, galleries, television, theatre, internet and management.

Senior students are also offered opportunities for international arts experiences: past tours have included to London and Paris, and in 2020 students will tour the Visual Art highlights of Japan.
