What the Course is about:

This course provides a study of the history of the modern world and Australia from 1918 to the present, with emphasis upon human rights, and the atrocities of war.

Key areas of learning include:

  1. An overview of the causes and course of World War II, including Australia’s involvement
  2. Atrocities of War: The Holocaust, Japanese war crimes & Atomic
  3. Vietnam War and Australia’s involvement
  4. The US civil rights movement and its influence on Australia.
 
Assessment:

Assessment will be based on:

  • Unit examination
  • Topic tests
  • Class exercises
  • Research assignment
